Chapter 363: Unexpected Encounter (4)
Chapter 363: Unexpected Encounter (4)
Thanks to Yoon Iseon’s active efforts, we were able to safely take a break.
As expected, the B-grade demon was no match for Yoon Iseon and was subdued by his flames before it could cause any human casualties.
Afterward, Platinum Sun personally appeared to purify the scene, and the young C-grade ability user, who had turned into a Zenros, was transported away in a citrus truck.
There’s no need to take him all the way to Busan by ship; he’d probably be sent to the temporary detention center on Jeju Island.
The issue was quickly resolved.
It’s just that the reasons why that demon did what he did were enough to make one’s spine chill and feel uneasy.
“HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN!”
The top comment on the news about the demon “Geia” immediately caught my attention.
Of course, I didn’t have any strong feelings about homosexuality.
Whether they loved each other or not didn’t really matter to me, as long as it didn’t cause me any harm.
I was a heterosexual, and if their relationship didn’t affect my life or my surroundings, I wouldn’t exactly cheer for their “beautiful love,” but I’d just let it be.
“Why do you say homosexuality is a sin? That’s not a politically correct statement!”
“Because they can’t have children together!!”
“Ah.”
“A love that can’t produce ability users can’t be acknowledged!”
“Ahem.”
It was possible for people of the same sex to share love, but the resulting fruit of that love – the birth of a “new life” – was inherently impossible.
If there were ability users, male or female, who could get pregnant or sired children respectively, then the story would be different. But so far, no such case had been officially reported.
This world didn’t particularly favor homosexuality.
This was not out of some extreme, politically incorrect hate but simply because homosexuality didn’t contribute much in the era of ability users, and therefore, it was socially rejected.
“Hey!! Tell your sister you love her!”
“I’m going to marry a man and have ability users!”
“Please! You’re our idol! You need to break free from the mental corset people have put on you!”
This was even more so for homosexuality among ability users.
“Don’t talk nonsense! What if ability users stop having children because of such talk? That would be a loss to humanity!”
“Are you trying to suppress an individual’s ideology by calling it a loss to humanity?!”
“If that’s what you want, then go to a country where homosexuality is legal!”
In Korea, homosexuality was shunned for the simple reason that it didn’t help with the birth of ability users.
In a way, it might be considered a natural viewpoint.@@@@
“For the ‘mass production’ of ability users, even infidelity, harems, or sperm donations without marriage are not only legal but socially encouraged.”
In this era, as long as ability users were born, everything was forgiven and legitimized, whether it’s infidelity, harems, or even with villains.
For instance, if Snow White were to commit adultery with the married Do Ji-hwan and get pregnant:
-“Your Excellency! Snow White is pregnant from an affair!!”
-“Is the pregnancy confirmed?”
-“Yes...!”
-“If the child is B-grade or lower, execute the man. If it’s A-grade, let him live.”
-“And if it’s S-grade?”
-“We’ll implement polygamy.”
Infidelity didn’t matter.
It may shock some, but giving birth to an S-grade child was far more important.
And, for example, if a married “Goblin” were to be involved (the story continues):
-“Your Excellency! Baek Seol-hee is pregnant! The partner is the Goblin!”
-“So, he went through with it.”
-“What should we do with a hero who had an affair with a villain?”
-“Well, it’s unfortunate he’s a villain, but... it’s an S-grade with an S-grade! Let’s celebrate the upcoming SS-grade twins of Baek Seolgoblin!!”
This might bring some social shock, but if an S-grade ability user was born, it was all good, even if one of the parents was a villain.
“I am! Not! Gay!!”
“Uh-huh, sure. Right.”
Sitting across from him was Kim Yun-ji, a woman with dark blue-tinted hair.
“Then why are you treating me like some kind of criminal gay?!”
“We’re just investigating based on objective facts and testimonies.”
“You think I’m the one who caused the demonization? That’s nonsense! This is all that guy’s setup! Don’t treat me like a criminal! What did I even do for you to point that at me like that?!”
“It’s just a tangerine.”
“Tangerine grenade, isn’t it! I know all too well that if you squeeze it with your hand, the juice and pulp will spray out like shrapnel!”
Behind her, Ji Cheon-hyang held a tangerine in each hand, pointing them at Ahn Kyun-hwan like pistols, while Ahn thumped his chest, his face flushed.
“I’m neither gay nor a criminal!”
“So you expect us to believe you? You’re saying that guy just came up to you and offered to have a drink?”
“Yes, exactly!”
“Fair enough.”
Kim Yun-ji picked up a hard candy from the table and popped it into her mouth.
Crunch!
She bit down, shattering it instantly, and for some reason, I felt a phantom ache.
“The guy who just turned Zenros regained consciousness and testified. Yeah, you weren’t lying. Ahn Kyun-hwan, you’re not gay.”
“That’s right! I’m just a regular Academy student—”
“Bi.”
“.......”
Ahn Kyun-hwan’s expression froze.
With a calm face, Najae continued chewing the candy, while Ahn’s eyes began to dart from side to side.
“Ahn Kyun-hwan, didn’t I tell you not to contact him? Were you up to something else in Jeju? Were you thinking of breaking things off with him and maybe dating any woman you could find while you’re at it? Or were you trying to cozy up to Student Council President Yoon Iseon?”
“Th-that’s...”
“So you wanted to pick any woman, have a nominal marriage, then cheat with someone else on the side? Impressive.”
Najae let out a mocking laugh, taunting Ahn Kyun-hwan.
“You’re pretty bold, you know. This is a crime, you get that?”
“......Whatever.”
“Whatever, what?”
“Once you have a child, that’s it, isn’t it?”
Ahn Kyun-hwan responded with a nonchalant face.
“As long as I marry a woman and have a kid, it doesn’t matter who I love, right?”
“.......”
“And one more thing.”
Ahn leaned back in his chair, a twisted grin on his face.
“Who were the ones who kept saying that a man only needs to sow his seed?”
Ah.
Truly.
‘Thank goodness Yumir didn’t have to see this.’
[Wow, what a lunatic.]
[......Can you not just open a dimensional portal and pop in out of nowhere? By the way, how long have you been here?]
[Just now.]
Yumir shook her head in disbelief as she looked at Ahn Kyun-hwan from the window.
[He claimed he was gay, but turns out he wasn’t.]
[Indeed. How pathetic to deny it after being with a guy.]
No wonder people turned into demons.
